Do you want to make a real difference in peoples’ lives in your community?
Create your own local Emergency Fund!
Have you wondered how you can help your community? Do you want to make a real difference in someone’s life? Do you have time for volunteer work and wonder where to start?
All rural areas are facing increased reduction in social services. The WCEF works closely with local CLSC staff (who do a wonderful job) and various agencies, but some financial hardships simply don’t fall in neat little boxes for social, provincial, or insurance funding. We are a registered charity and have established evaluation criteria and processes as well as an array of sample tools from thank you letters to financial ledgers.
Our experiences have shown that we simply cannot afford to provide assistance for all neighbouring municipalities, and that fundraisers are more effective when they are focused on supporting local needs.
In that regard, if you would like to create an Emergency Fund in your community we will be more than happy to freely share all of our knowledge, experiences, and tools! For your information, such a fund does not require an exorbitant amount of resources to administer as, for example, since 2009 the WCEF has operated with five or less board members and a handful of volunteers. You can do it too!
